It just stopped working one day and I've pretty much lived without it for a year but having just found this amazing site, I thought I'd ask if someone has any advise on reviving the car's horn.
Thanks

Ever had your front bumper off? If it's not mounted at the right angle it can sound funny. If its completely not working, check the steering wheel crimp connectors, and then the ones on the horn, and the earth from the horn.
Hope that helps, btw the horn is behind the front bumper, on the right looking from the front (or it is on the mk3!) I have a recollection of someone saying it's on the radiator on earlier models. Anyone confirm?

Of course those of us with proper 300s have 2 horns
Things to check...can you hear the horn relay clicking? It's located behind the instrument panel I think. If not, it's a wiring problem close to home. If you can hear it clicking, check that voltage is getting to the horn terminals using a multimeter. If it is....buy a new horn unit!
cheers

Hi, the horn on my dad's 340 stopped working the other day and he went the long way of checking things first i.e. wireing, connections and the fuse but had no luck (But he's not much of an autospark). He brought it around to mine today and I had a quick look at it my way first and had it working again within a minute of looking. Fuse was fine with no break but it was the fuse. Thing to check first is the fuse, don't just look at it to see if it is broken TAKE IT OUT! Fuse may look ok but clean the bullit ends with a bit of sandpaper or a sharp knife and clean the 2 holders for the fuse in the box as just the slightest bit of dirt or contamination either on fuse ends or holder will stop the current flowing. That was the cause of my dad's horn not working and many others I have come accross. Hope this helps!
