Hi all, just got an '89 blueline, only issue is econ gauge doesn't work! can these fail or would it be connections on manifolds?
Thanks. Alex

They can gunk up on carb models, so I've heard. Isn't there some kind of built-in filter in them?

yes but it's hooked to vacuum so you'd say that the dirt sucks itself away back into the manifold eventually..

unless you get a full throttle headgasket blowout and don't realise something is different

1.7s have a huge amount of oily crap in the breather, so it's more than possible the things gunked up on a blueline. Check the pipe between the gauge and t piece doesn't have a split anywhere (as this would screw up your running as well), if all looks well, take it out the dash and put it in some turps type stuff overnight to try and clean it.
