I always thought it would be cool to do a custom PAS job on a 1.7 with some 360 parts. Tricky even thinking about it though!

Rumour mill says the PAS rack doesn't fit under the 1.7 sump. It does under the 1.4 certainly though.

I wounder how many variations there are though. I mean, surely the 440 has PAS? Chances there to get some parts that would simply bolt on. What I need is a long hard look under the bonnet of a 440..

The sump for a 400 is different

So the rack is still your issue. Bracketry fouls the 300 mounts from memory, but the pump and pulleys are what you need.
I'll split this from Ronnies thread

EDIT - No, I can't, it's not working. Can another mod if I can't get back to the internet please

How about some sort of adaptation from an electric PAS system? Custom car builders are increasingly using these, for example out of 2000ish onwards Vauxhall Corsa's

yeah surely if somehow can get a rack to fit, an electric pump from a 106/saxo would fit

The pump is not a problem. As there are lots of F-type renaults with pas. But the rack does for 100% sure does not clear the sump. I know cause I tried...!

Interesting, could go electric. The rack's easy to fit, bit of duc tape here and there... no problem!
