Instruments not working (Volvo 66)

Hello,

Few probs on my new moss-based Volvo 66.

1) Voltmeter doesn't show anything
2) Petrol Gauge doesn't show anything

If I ground the petrol gauge wire it should read full tank, right? Well it doesn't.
Is there an own voltage stabilizer on the clocks unit itself?

I'm pretty sure I have seen the voltmeter working but now it's dead.

On my original 66 dash, my volt meter wasn't working, but the fuel gauge was.

If you ground out the fuel gauge wire it should read full.

There is a voltage stabiliser (61) and it sits on the back of the instruments on the voltmeter / fuel gauge clock pod.

Thanks a lot. You don't happen to have the whole catalog scanned somewhere? 8)

If I ground the wire but the voltage stab is broken it doesn't read full?
If I measure the ohms between the tank float connections it doesn't give any reading.

I've got some instruments somewhere, but I can't remember if they're the later type with the orange lettering.

I'll have a dig around and maybe drop you a PM when I find some scans

I am working on doing some searchable PDFs, but that really means firing Windows up to use Adobe Acrobat which I only do once in a blue moon. The stuff I have is for the DAF 66, 55 and 44. I don't have any Volvo 66 books. I've also got some service bulletins too.

Can you not by-pass the voltage regulator to see if you get a reading? I know the sender unit should have a resistance somewhere between (very approximately - i.e. complete guess!) of 20-300ohms (full-empty).

The operating voltage on the volt/petrol gauges is not 12V. If I bypass them they'll surely fry.

Seems like I need new set of clocks and a tank sender for starters.

Tell you what, I've got a Christmas tree to put back into the loft, so I'll look for the box with the bits in

Can you post a picture of your clocks so I know what style they are?
