REAR BUMPER REMOVAL?
Re: REAR BUMPER REMOVAL?
Hi Justin.
Two 13 mill spanners is all you need.
Cheers Mark.

I guess you only need to remove the arms if you're gonna put them on a replacement second-hand bumper?Chris_C wrote:In which case, you don't need to remove the arms!

Re: REAR BUMPER REMOVAL?
This looks like a pig of a job as the nuts cant be seen as they're recessed back a bit. Why couldnt Volvo have had the actual nuts visible with the bolt heads recessed instead? It would be much easier then to clean the thread sections before attempting to undo them...
I think this is how I will replace them after and then if I ever need to get the rear bumper off again it'll be a bit easier...

Re: REAR BUMPER REMOVAL?
Its a good idea to clean the dirt off as much as possible with a drill and wire brush and soak them overnight. Its jobs like this really teach you how to wield a spanner (or socket wrench).

Re: REAR BUMPER REMOVAL?
That's easier said than done though as I can hardly see or access the nut and thread sections to clean them. I think its just a case of sheer them all off and then replace all 4!

It's a big shame, when you consider how simple front bumper removal is.

I always though 340's were easy to work on aswell? I guess you could say that the rear bumper is a design fault...

Offset ring spanner and they are super easy, I've never had a problem at least

Re: REAR BUMPER REMOVAL?
Well I've finally got round to removing my bumper and what a frickin awkward job it was! Much easier if you've got a car-pit and a "really bright" halogen lamp. I only have car ramps so I had to lie under it wearing safety goggles due to all the crap that was falling on me as I located/undid the bolts. Thankfully I have an amazing magnetic halogen torch but it still proved to be a pig of a job. Amazingly I didnt sheer any of the bolts off...
Not a job I would want to do too often that's for sure...
