I have just blow my diff up and need a new one because i have a drag race in 12 days!!! I got offerd a 5 speed gearbox and diff cheap, but the only problem is my car had a 4 speed gearbox in and i was wondering if the 5 speed would fit in ? Cheers Joe

It'll go right in yes, you'll want to swap the whole transaxle which is sounds like you were going to do

Good effort!! The 4 speed diff has a longer casing, so the units are the same length... therefore pretty sure the prop is will be fine on the 5 speed box too. This is what I found out when I wanted to do a 5 speed conversion on my 343

Yer, i measured the hole centers and they are the same but the is like a big chunk off bar were the prop goes onto it looks like ots there to act as a balance is this normal?

If the box is out of a 1.7 then it has a harmonic balencer on the front of the gearbox.
