Hello, I´m going to make a rally car whit my 340 and I need some more power for my engine. I don´t know what to do, if buy a renault engine or if tune up my engine. What dou you think about it?
If I use the 1.7 I would like to know what make to it. I´m thinking about a classic tune up, but for example I don´t know if there is any cam? Any carburetor good to this engine? I have two dellortho 36 from a alfa, but I would have to make a header from the intake and other to the exausth.

A cheap +10hp is to find a B18kp 440, and take the carb, cam and renix from that. The B18kp is a B172k but with those items changed. Green books say the cam is the same in the B18F (which is much more common) and give the jet sizes too, but you'd need to do a bit of research on it.

If I change the engine probably I will buy a 2.0 from Renault or from a Volvo. Change the cam is a option, but I will like a rally cam, around 280-300 degress (in my street car I have a 270º and in my classic car a 280º, in my rally car I have to got a more degrees cams

I really want to rally prep my 1.4, but I don't really want more power, just tougher shocks and mudflaps and a roll cage.
not going to win, just to have fun and put in a surprising* time.
You know they used to say competing with a Volvo in a rally is a waste of time and petrol... I wish to reiterate that sentiment in my 340.

If I run in asfalt I think that I need any more power to make drift, I don´t want to go very fast.
In my country (Spain), people thinks that this car is very bad because they don´t drive never once, but all the people that runs in my 340 changes the opinion at the moment, it´s a very good car

Hello, a friend gives to me a carb (solex 32-34 Z13) and a renix from a Renault 19, an 1.7 95 hp engine. All the engine is similar at the 83 hp from the volvo, I think only changes this two parts.
Now I´m looking from a volvo 440 cam (I don´t know who makes cams to this engine), but the 1.8 engine only have 95 hp, the 1.7 inyected fuel from firsly 440 have 107 hp, it´s the more agressive stock cam to this engine. Probably I´m going to buy all the cylinder head to this car to make anything in my house.
Whit this parts, a 11:1 compresion, the dremel and a exhaust header (make in my house if I don´t look anythig to a good price) I think that the 1.7 from my volvo is sufficient to make a fun rally car.
I´m going to tune up brakes and shocks a little so, but I´m going to make it slow, I haven´t got a lot of money....
When I have the 340 better than now (It´s very dirty to work in it) I will put some photos from it.

Pipercams make cams to the B18 engine from 270º to 314º, it´s the same to the B172? Can I put it to my engine?

Hello, Yesterday I have change the renix. Whit the 340 renix I put the car a 130 km/h in a hillclimb near from my house, yesterday whit the r19 renix (I only change this item at the moment) it arrives to 140 km/h 
It´s a good evolution to this engine.
