Post by clitti » 16 Jun 2011 10:36 pm

Does any body know if its possible to put a 531 head on a B23 block.Tried the search function on TBs but its not working. If your wondering what its going to be put in,I've finally convinced my brother in law to fit a redblock in his Escort mk 2.

That wont be a problem, All the redblock heads are basicly the same, only diffrence is th combustion chambers, ports and valvs. But that wont give u a problem unless its b200e pistons vs a 631 head but you woud figgure that out soon enough :)
Go for it :D

I thought it would fit,but its been quite a while since i chopped and changed engine+ bits around.Better to check than find out after every things been pulled apart. I've got a B23a from an old 240 112bhp and wanted to get a bit more horses. The B23e puts out 140bhp but thats the one with a K or H cam and injection. So i thought that if i put the 531 head on the B23 bottom end then put a decent cam in,either a VX,V or an H or k cam (if i can find one),and put a twin weber 48 sidedraught on it then it might develop a bit more power.Any thoughts on the output??I thought about 150bhp(in theory)!!!!

Yeah, it'll work fine. You'll see north of 150 with that setup. I dyno'd 140 with 40s on a B200 and a standard exhaust. At 7k RPM you're knocking on the door of 200bhp.

cheers
