Toughing up the 340
Toughing up the 340
Hi all. Got a welded diff on its way, next on my list is to polybush the engine mounts and lower it. Just wondering what other sort of mods i should be doing to stop it breaking everytime the ass end kicks out?

From what i've discovered, you need to uprate all the engine and gearbox mount bushes, make sure the engine and gearbox output shafts are aligned. Make sure the propshaft is central on each output shaft, and the drivetrain should last through the abuse
Worn engine mounts, welded diffs and lots of clutch kicked i believe is what has brought this "drivetrain always breaks" opinion of the 340's
What would you expect from a 25 year old car on original bushes
So, best get an order in with DAI
Thomas..............

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post but I recently bought a 340 which I plan to track this year. I'm after poly bushes for all the engine and box/diff mounts so can anyone point me in the right direction please. I'm running a 2.0 460 engine in the car (with electronic fuel pumP ) if that affects the bush choice. I don't plan to weld the diff just lower the. At and sort the bushes first.

Re: Toughing up the 340
yer its is unfair the car has got this rep as it is expecting a 20yrs+ old car to not have worn parts is just unreal

Re: Toughing up the 340
I understand the age thing, mines coming up for 28, i was asking what things i can do to prevent things breaking due to too much stress etc.
Re: Toughing up the 340
Cheers for the reply. I spoke to Dai today and I will take quite a few parts from him but I going to strip the car first then order the parts.
