Hi i've just snapped a driveshaft on my 360GLT. Only just got it back in the road after the diff shat itself :/
Will driveshafts from the 340 fit? Is there any difference between them? Also are there any driveshafts from other cars that fit?
Cheers
Michael

Re: Driveshafts
Yeah 340 ones will fit but you'll probably want to swap the bolts over from the broken shaft. The allen key bolts are crappy!
Re: Driveshafts
I thought the 360 halfshafts where slightly stronger/bigger than the 340 ones. I think you can get new aftermarket ones, pricey though.

Re: Driveshafts
360 shafts are thicker. For normal use 340 ones would be fine but if you have actualy busted a 360 one then I do not see the thinner 340 one lasting well.

Re: Driveshafts
I only busted it as i was drifting it in the dry in 2nd gear. It was doing it until i moved onto another roundabout, it didn't like the other one :/ I've learnt from my lesson so im going to stick to the wet

Re: Driveshafts
Not all 360s have the thicker ones. Basically there are two types of drive shafts and CV-joints (well actually three types if you count in the CVT models which have different length also...)
Thicker ones have also different bores at the end so CV-joints between the two models are not interchangable. I've found both drive shafts from 340s and 360s, so there's no clear pattern what type is in what car. SJS has found these thicker shafts mostly from pre -84 cars but I myself have thicker ones in -87 GLT.
Thicker ones have these three machined ring like bulges and thinner ones are completely flat throughout the shaft.
Both shafts are interchangable as long as you'll change the CV joints at the same time also.
Volvo lists the thicker ones as "B200F/B200E" but this is not the case as thicker ones have been found from other cars also and thinner ones have been found from cars with B200Es etc...
Seems like usual 80's Volvo style. The assembler installed a part which was the nearest one.
Volvo also lists some drive shaft which was discontinued and replaced with another one in 360 but I don't think those have much dimensional differencies.

Re: Driveshafts
Hmm my 87 B200K has thinner ones, need bigger ones for B230FT!
