Hi All, Been a while lol
I'm in discussion with a local custom exhaust company (new SS system
) and it crossed my mind if they are doing any tack/completion welds with a new system on the car, are there any precautions needed to protect the ECU, Renix etc on my 360 ?
I assume disconnecting the battery as a minimum...
Am sure there will be plenty who have done welding on their cars, just wondering if you go further and disconnect the ECU, Renix etc ?

I doubt, the 360 has an ECU -did not find this in the Haynes manual, covering 340 and 360-.
On my 340, which has a Renix-module, I took off the 3 connectors, and disconnected the battery on * and - posts, when I -electrically- welded on the car. This gave no problems.
AddOn: workshops welding on cars use a bridging connector over the battery I noticed.
Think it will save the battery, unsure it will save electronics (Renix e.g.) too....
Better safe than sorry, I prefer.

Hi,
The 360 with B200 engine uses the Bosch LE Jetronic management system which has an ECU (of sorts) located behind the centre console area. Ignition is still taken care of by the Renix unit and flywheel sensor.
If you haven't noticed, in this forum under the Technical Resources section / Green books there are scans of proper Volvo manuals in here which have more detail than Haynes.
Also, its worth picking up a copy of the yellow Autodata 340/360 manual and Peter Russek 340/360 Pocket mechanic blue folder if you don't already as I find it covers some aspects better than Haynes.
