Having money does not equal having engineering sense...A phrase springs to mind:

A fool and his money are easily parted.

I honestly believe that the only reason that audi made more power is the fact that they removed the cats...nice job, less restriction, and more pollution to benefit his kids.

Anyway, I'm an engineer myself with some knowledge of fluid mechanics..looking at that picture I can only laugh..probably worst design i've ever seen, but I'll double check with a friend who has more insight in compressible fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.

LOL, that could well be... but F1 cars and Touring cars have virtually no exhaust at al.
An S8 engine will give most power too when no exhaust is fitted after the turbo.
Dunno what to think about those swirly things... I would like to see the maths about them...
Actually you'd probably find it would lose power from that , and be deafeningly loud, last time i checked, shortening the exhaust/headers simply tuned them for a different part of the powerband(making them more efficient at a higher RPM), having no exhaust would simply make the "exhaust" tuned for RPM's into the 20,000+rpm range. F1 cars still have exhausts, but very short (so that the exhaust gives a power boost at the 17-19,000rpm that they buzz away at )

Down in oz, we've got something for the intake called a hiclone, "save $4 per tank of fuel, make 4hp at the rear wheels and over 5 at the flywheel" all it is a unit that forces the air to swirl. they sell for $150 each here, and they reccomend you use 2 to get the greatest benefit. A lot of people buy them, which doesnt prove they work, only that they sell. My question for these things is, "If its so great a unit that it'll halve your fuel bill, double your power and encourage all the "beach babes wet from head to toe wearing seethrough bikinis" to lay out all over your car in appealing positions (i swear some adds they spend more time marketing the sex appeal than they do marketing the product) .... then why aren't the car companies throwing big cheques at you so they can use it as original equipment in their new car releases?"

I mean if ferrari or lambo started putting these cheap pieces of twisted metal in their latest performance machines, I might then say to myself "well maybe it does do something, afterall ferrari/lambo spend a lot of money on R&D so wouldnt put it in their latest 0-100 in 2 seconds techno wonder if it didnt do anything"

IMO, It wouldnt surprise me if such a device lost power... but i am curious, as no independant people who use these products have "before and after" results with these types of things... and i'm generally not inclined to believe any results the company may provide.
