Changin engine

Post by havock » 03 Aug 2006 08:55 pm

I read and search engine swap topics, but if there is some one who like to do one topic where is every possible swappings. Like 1.4 to ?? 1.7 to ?? maybe 2.0 to ? and other combinations. What else should do than have new engine (like keeping hand style? (writed right?) Other parts what should replace whit what parts. Like what fits where and possible changes.
And maybe its good to tell are you talking lhd or rhd car if there is difrence fitting engine.
Just wondering that..

well, 1.4 and 1.7 can be swiched easy becuse they are Renault engines and 2.0 is ingenious volvo, and for 2.0 you better sell yours and buy a 360 2.0.

You're right, an engine swap sticky would be a good idea. I have some data I need to obtain first. The moderation team will get on the case.

cheers

Great! :D
I heard sompthing rumor than 1.7 is renault basic block and chancing bore/stroke they made 1.8 and 2.0(11mm higher block than 1.8 ) and 400 d19t engine is same exept dieselpump and sparkplug is replaced to injectors (diesel compression is 20,5:1 = dont blow whit more turbo pressure :D ?) All renault engines use flat head?
Some words are maybe not write right

The B172 and the B20F are basicaly the same block and head and is a fairly simple engine swap as I have done it.
The renault head is not a flat head but just a normal ovhc

From memory, it's about 80% a 'heron' head design...not a full one like the B230K.
