Renault Engines

Post by Van Hoof » 07 Nov 2007 11:47 am

Hi guys, and welcome to this months sporadic post by me. Hope you're all well.

Anyway... to the point.

Having sold the 360 before going to work in Turkey I'm now wondering about a well set up Renault engined 340. I know the conversion that most do is the F 16 engine but I was wondering if any of the later generation engines are as easy to fit (ie. 198, 172 etc).

Had a search but couldn't find anything.

Cheers

Ben

hello Ben, B172 and B198 are real easy fits, B172 is originally deliverd on 340..

16v is probably a bit harder to fit. Van Hoof sounds Dutch: ben ik ook, vandaar....LHD gives problems with braking...! Master brakecylinder is right in front of the inlet of cyl 4

Thanks for that dude. Are they the engine designations for the Cliosport 192 engines or are they a Volvo B... designation (similar to the b230 for the 740).

I'm looking at a new Renault Sport engine from the last generation Clio for the conversion.

Not Dutch mate... a friend suggested it as a login after seeing it on the side of a lorry.

:D

If you are on about the later type renault engines as used in the V/S40 then its not a simple fit. To start with the starter motro is on the oposit side.

Don't thick anyone has done those engines before = a lot of extra hussle!
But if you are a skilled mechanic with opportunity to custom make stuff, nothing is impossible..
But why not go for a Volvo powered one? then you can easy get 180hk ++

Sorry my bad english, but petrol S/V40 Volvos have Volvo engines, diesel engines are from Renault. And there have been also available 1.8 GDI from Mitsubishi, but those are rare.
