360 no drive
360 no drive
Hi I just bought a 360 GLT but when I put in any gear it doesn't drive.
There are no nasty noises some one told me it could be the drive coupling but it is really quiet, any ideas out there, thanks.
Here is a pic of the car, it cost me $200 NZ.

Re: 360 no drive
That picture used to be on the web loads about 5 years ago, will be interesting to see it now! Any recent pictures?
I'm really not up on 360 drivetrains I'm afraid. From memory there are couplings where the torque tube connects that can be pains though

Re: 360 no drive
Heres some pics taken today. It was originally built up by a local Volvo dealer for his daughter, she wouldn't drive the original "Granny" car as she called it.
It used to park outside my cycle shop reguarly and was kept in good nick.I never saw it for a few years until it came up for sale last year. I'd been looking for a 360 and was stoked to see the BTCC car. Got it for $200 but it's been sitting since, no time.
Engine runs great I just need to sort out the drive problem. It has a genny Volvo body kit apparently and had power steer fitted.
Most of the decals are gone on one side so I will take them all off and just keep the silver and blue with a repaint.
Its still a real tidy car just needs a little tlc.
I've got an original 164 and a 142s which I just got mobile with a 142e engine and Virgo mags.
Gotta stay rear wheel drive eh.

Re: 360 no drive
Sounds like a terminal driveline problem, you'd best sell it to me eh?
That looks bloody awesome, I hope you can get it sorted.

Great to see that car's still about, it looks super. As Chris says the first pic was about a fair bit a year or two back.

Does look awesome, and still has the kit
Great car, we could never find out much about it before but good to know it's gone somewhere that'll sort it out.

This is something I really love to hear, there are cars and mechanical body transportation devicesshedrat29 wrote: Gotta stay rear wheel drive eh.

Great that car of such 'fame' ends up to good hands of yours

I would believe that there are two points where your no drive problem may reside, one that has been quite common (multiple cases) is part that connects 'propshaft' to gearbox (part is located at front of gearbox, inside torquetube), you can see two rubber plugs under torque tube (I think you need to remove shield that is located under gearbox), take them out and fit good flashlight you should be able to see part that connects two shafts, both shafts have splines and that part clamps with two allen key bolts to those shafts.
Some times allen key bolts become loose and splines of that clamping part can get damaged, but sometimes I have heard tightening those bolts have been enough.
Sorry if some of information is bit off, it is very long time since I have been under my car, but that should guide you to approx location and give basic idea of that location.
Second problem can be differential (few of these I know of), but you can find out this by opening differential cover and see if all gears are intact.
More rare problems have been one clutch plate destruction (quite recent no drive event here at V3M), also one broken gearbox-diff shaft, oh yes and one main shaft of gearbox being snapped, those are what I know of.
Opening diff cover and checking that torque tube clamping part could be easiest places to start.
Some pics I have scanned:

edit: In Fig 6.24 circled enlargement #5 shows that clamping part that connects 'propshaft' and gearbox shaft.
Hopefully that has some help for you
