Isn't a Redline a 1.7 though? It probably would be different.

Yeah, It's a 1.7. It appears some things were 'stripped out' to lighten it. So the other connector may have been for somelhing else.

The other connector goes to the electric preheater disc. The earlier cars had water preheaters where the coolant pipes would run into a bracket on the baseplate of the carb, but the later ones had an electric preheater. Its to even up the idle when the carb isn't fully up to temperature, its basically a ceramic disc thing which is clamped onto the baseplate near the idle circuit of the carb.

Update: I took the 360 for an italian tune-up, and it hasn't misbehaved since. The plugs did look very black when I pulled them the other day. Time to get that damn wideband in and get the ruddy thing tuned properly. Damn you cold weather :(
