You are talking nonsense in here.

Volvo has produced almost all kinds of "redblock" engines, by the term redblock (in swedish "roedblock") we mean VOLVO engines in RWD cars, from 1956 (B14A) to 1998 (B230FT...).

In the 300 series ONLY theese "redblock" engines were available from the factory:

B19A 2,0L single stromberg carb, around 90-94hp 157Nm
B19E 2,0L Bosch LE-jetronic injected engine, 115hp 160Nm
B200K 2,0L dualport solex cisac carb, 100-102hp 155-157Nm
B200E 2,0L Bosch LE-jetronic injected engine, 111-115hp 157-160Nm
B200F Bosch LE-jetronic injected engine, 108hp 150Nm

Then there were aftermarket R-sport engines fitted to 300 series volvos by cars dealers, they were maily built from the carby versions, by either putting a turbo and a turbo carby on a B19A or B200K engine, and getting out 135hp/200Nm. Then there were also normally aspirated engines, built mainly on the B19A, with double twin-choke Solex 40mm carbs, and a "K" camshaft, about 120-123hp/170Nm. This normally aspirated also came out of the factory, about 200 pieces, so it was very rare.

Then there was of course rallysprint, B23 engines fitted with 16v head etc. but theese were not for "normal persons", because of the high price, about $4000-20000.

And about the 16valve engine not fitting the Volvo 300 engine bay, LOOK HERE!

I Fitted a Volvo Penta AQ171A -86 engine into my 340DL. The drivetrain is from a 360, and fuel system is custom made, Megasquirt injection, 360GLT fuelpump, B234F manifolds and fuel-rails, the ignition is stock AQ171 penta Renix. Exchaust system is stock 2" (also the "downpipe", fits DIRECTLY on the 16v exch. manifold), but the rear muffler is a "see trough" type, for better gasflow.

The engine is built from the factory on a B230 (NOT B234) block, 86mm crankshaft, 16v head (not B234F, 99% similar tough cast number 1000532, B234=1001262), distributor on the end of the cyl.head (therefore i had to "mod" the fanbox). The engine has original about 167hp/230Nm. The oilpan is from a 360 B200K, also the oil pickup pipe.

The problems i ran on, when replacing the B14.4E original engine with this, were:
Engine mount holes had to be drilled in the car body (not a big deal)
The radiator hole had to bee enlargened for the "newer" radiator (only a problem on renault models untill 1985, 1986 ALL models have "the big" radiator)
No places to bolt the differential/gearbox mount (holes were there surprisingly, so i put the nuts there of course)
If you have the distributor on the end of the cyl.head, you MUST use the "newer" heater fan (modded of course), because the older (untill 1985) can't be modded to fit.

Here's a good 360 16v site:
http://www.higgins340.fsnet.co.uk/
340DL 1986 B14 4E (72hp, 110Nm)
360GL Injection 1990, B200F (108hp, 150Nm)
Trashed:
343DL -79, 2x340DL -83, 340DL -84, 360GL -87, 340GL -88

Yes, there is quite a lot of BS in this thread.
