The ford Ka safe hmm well i guess they can be safe but then they are made of thinner metal so lighter and better fuel consumption but then when your wrapped in a car thas covered in tin foil and made out of plastic, who would last

You could put it to the age old thing of the morris minor and the mk 1 ford cortina both made at roughly the same time but the ford was mass produced to a greate numbers than the moggy but you dont see many a mk1 cortina on the roads granted you dont see many a moggy but then they are about in greater number why because they were made of metal and not foil!

o the question of cost ive never paid more than £1500 on a car so why would i want to spend worthless money on a corsa or a festa for that matter when there are cars out there that are a lot cheaper and better!

A friend of mine has his own garage business and he has seen festas come through that are 5 years old and the sills were covered in rust and ford at the time had a 10 yr no rust guarentee so what went wrong!

Our volv has by the hands of the elderly previous owner had a fairly large ding in the rear passenger door and scrapped the wheel arch a bit but the areas where the paint has broken has hardly if at all started rusting!

I think you slightly misread, I said some may be safer. I hear new Corsas are supposed to get good safety ratings, however the 300 maywell be safer than some newer cars such as Ka's as they are so small, and would appear to be made of tinfoil. The gurders in the doors of the 300 are very reasuring.

And stuntman, I wouldn't want to hit your car in anything but a truck, they look very solid. :)

If you want an idea of "Solid" - I lost it going around a wet greasy corner in my '77 265GL (probably too much right foot  )

Ploughed up the rear of a parked Ford Falcon Panel Van ('70s model) pushed it into the rear of a Mitsubishi Magna ('80s model - Google these cars if you dont know what they are, they're Aussie)

Twisted the Falcon's chasis, totaled the back of the Magna, insurance wrote of the Fowlcan and paid about $3500 on the Magna repairs.

Me? I busted the bumper, bonnet, wing, radiators and air con piping. So I drove 8k's home (having swapped details) with no coolant, ripped the metal off, got some new bits from the wrecker, sprayed them blue and bolted them on.

Thats strong! 8)
