CVT Clutch Plate Question
CVT Clutch Plate Question
I need to replace the clutch plate on my wifes 340 cvt and just wondered if the plates are the same ones used that are for a manual? I only need to replace the plate as it is worn.
Just another quick question, What is the minimum amount and size shims that can be used to space the old clutch to get the clearance? I measured the gap today and you would probably have to remove all the shims to get the clearance, I know this is not possible but I need to just get it a slight bit better to last until I get the parts in a few days and be able to fit them in the next couple of weeks. Not wise but only has to get her around for a couple more weeks and I don't want it going altogether before then.

Re: CVT Clutch Plate Question
The clutch plate for the CVT is different.
Re your other question: I only dare to take a guess so I'd rather let the specialists have their say on the matter

Re: CVT Clutch Plate Question
the clutchplate of the CVT is slighly smaller in diameter, it won't fit.morgan105 wrote:I need to replace the clutch plate on my wifes 340 cvt and just wondered if the plates are the same ones used that are for a manual? I only need to replace the plate as it is worn.

if you get just about enough clearence (between 0,1 and 0,3mm) if you remove all the shims then don't drive it any more! driving on with a clutchplate that thin will let the rivets holding the frictionmaterial will start to grind in the flywheel and/or the pressure plate, so you can replace those too....
factory - spec adjusted is one 0,5mm shim and one 2,4mm shim x 3. the currently available plates have slightly thicker frictionmaterial so you'll probably have to add a few shims when adjusting the new clutch.
Re: CVT Clutch Plate Question
Any idea on a price for the plate?

Try Danny at www.dafhobby.nl They do reconditioned plates, but I think you may need to send the old one in. Send the chap an email ...

Re: CVT Clutch Plate Question
Depends how easy it is to get a CVT clutch plate in the UK. The last time I checked, Danny was the only source ... But I could be wrong.

Re: CVT Clutch Plate Question
yeah but if you have to send the old plate to Danny, €20 is a little under 17 quid. just had a small package shipped from the UK to my place, with 10quid shipping costs. so if you ask me it's a lot of work for 7quid. i'd use the old plate as a frisbee

I guess it you sideline the car for a few days you could get somewhere local to re-line it.

Re: CVT Clutch Plate Question
I also do 'em on a part exchange basis as does T&P oldtimershop in Meeuwen Gruitrode (Belgium).
I believe he also had 1 or 2 new ones kicking around.
You may perhaps also want to visit a local 'old style' car parts shop. I know some of them still refurbish clutchplates.
