B19 VS B200

Post by mrborrie » 03 Feb 2011 07:10 pm

What are the diffrences between the 2 engines? Could i swap over B200 injection on a B19 or will i lose some power over the 1,0?

No difference in the injection system AFAIK. The B200 is a low friction version of the B19.

Thing it i got a parts car with injection and a 85 GLS with carb.
I was thinking of swapping all the bits over. i hoped the loom for the injection was separate from the headlights and horn etc but its not.
Swapping just the entire loom + relaybox from the enginecompartment and the bit that goes to the ECU would be enough to convert to injection or am i missing something crusial.

Mostly. There maybe some differences in the head. For instance I think the B200K uses water heating in the manifold and you have to block these ports up to convert to injection. Also check the holes for the cold start switch and idle bypass valve.

i bet the B19 has a lazier cam and maybe even slightly lower CR as the B200

everything should fysically fit though, but i'd personally swap the complete engine; less work!

Yeah im now pretty sure i will swap the entire thing.
Just wondering about the loom in the injected car, the headlights etc are worked into it too but it all goes to that fuse/relay box and one bit into the car thats connected to the ECU.
If i swap over all that stuff it should have all the bits i need to do the swap and have a functional injection system or are there fuses somewhere in the dash i will need too?

injection loom is separate from the normal engine-bay loom (with the headlights, wiper motor etc)

I pulled out a B200E injection loom pretty easily so I think its not connected.

Compression ration from 1982 B19 in 360s is 10:1 same as B200s. However an 85 GLS should be a B200K (well mine was), does it have the Stromberg variable jet side draught carb?

Injection harness is separate. Here's a pic of LU-Jetronic's harness.

Solex downdraft would be a B200K, unless its a mix and match engine swap already. Why do you think its a B19? The number is usually only on the timing belt cover, its possible it says B19 on the block, but thats misleading.

You will defo need to put in some core plugs into the head to convert a B200K to injection, not a difficult or expensive job AFAIK, but I've never done it.
