bike exhausts on cars

Wondering how good/bad these are..

I only have one silencer on my car (back box), and it's stupidly loud. I'm likely to get pulled over at some point.
I'm thinking of swapping the rear box for a bike one. Is that likely to make it sound quieter? Bikes only have the 1 and, although loud, they don't wake the whole town like mine does atm

depending on whats currently on, im guessing louder.

why you worried about a pull? is there a legal db limit?

I thought as long as the exhaust system was complete and solid, john law could grin and bare it.

I'm pretty sure there is a Db limit, and i wouldn't be surprised if plod could do you just for being 'loud'. 'fraid i can't help on the bike can front though

you can't really compare a bike-engine characteristic with a normal car engine, bike's have really short runners/pipe for a start, if its an open absorbtion silencer, it will damp but can still be a bit loud, depends on what you take.

if it stays loud you can allways mount a silencer in the middle of the exhaust

Law wise anything other than factory fitted original exhaust systems is illegal.

According to the law anything that isnt a direct replacement backbox and that is louder than factory isnt allowed :P

However they hardly ever inforce it, and as far as i know unless you're a complete wanker/cocky to the police they wont enforce it.

I had a jap can on my civic previously that was VERY loud, i got pulled for it twice and brought up on it, producers given both times, had it stamped without changing anything :D

It's not to OTT from the outside, drones a bit inside (no soundproofing).

I leave for work at 3:30am on Monday mornings and haven't had any complaints yet
