Volvo 360 B200K Vs. B200E

Post by Volvo 360 GL B200K » 20 May 2004 12:06 am

I currently run a 2.0 carb B200K Volvo 360 GL, and i am in the process of purchaing a Volvo 360 GLT (B200E)! What i want to know is if the difference in speed, acceleration, economy and handling are noticable between the two types of engine?

I have driven and own / have owned a 1.4 340, 1.7 340 and 2.0 carb 360, and it is clear to see the progression in the above criteria! I would just like to here the opinions of you priviledged drivers who own both the B200K and B200E or have driven both!

Another quick question, when starting the B200E engine (which is standard without a choke) do you have to blip the throttle while starting, or do you just turn the key?!

Cheers & Happy Motoring!

no need to touch accelerator pedal until engine is running. if sth is not OK, you may need to use full throttle while cranking.

I can't tell you about the B200K because I only had two B200E but I'm sure there is a difference.

Quentin (from the Volvo 300 Mania team) has a B19A (the old B200K) on his 345 GLS and a B19E (old B200E) on the 360 GLT, the acceleration is of course better and the topspeed higher. Maybe he can give more details about that.

Volvo said in the technical brochures:

topspeed B19A - B200K : 170 km/h
topspeed B19E - B200E : 185 km/h

Dad's cars: '87 340 vario, '89 340 vario

The B19A is a lot less powerful than the B200K
There's not much in it between the B19E and the B200E.

B200E vs B200K?
speed - slightly higher on the E thanks to the hotter cam.
acceleration - bit faster, but very slightly less low torque.
economy - E better from cold (injection cleverer than carb!). K better otherwise.
handling - GLTs had slightly stiffer springs I believe? not much in it really...

cheers
