I thought today was going bad: The bonnet release cable got jammed on my Punto (yes, I know). I also discovered that the exhaust has a nice crack in it
Anyway, more importantly:
As you can see, one side of my engine mount has well and truly broke (I can't say I've ever seen this before). It was literally just resting on one of the mounts.
It would appear the weld between the plate and the cup was quite poor in the first place. Rallying obviously didn't help, so it's now snapped off.
Repair wise, what do you guys reckon? Reweld a thicker plate on? Reweld the other side as well?
I had delusions of grandeur and was thinking of getting a solid aluminium version machined up. Can anyone think why they need to be linked together across the two cups?
