1.4 on bike carbs

Post by tattooer » 08 Dec 2012 07:18 pm

Whilst my 340 is getting the f7p swap I accumulated a 89' 1.4. I have a spare set of gsxr600 carbs laying about and was wondering if it would be possible to cut the inlet manifold back till its no more than a thick metal gasket, weld 4pipes angled upwards away from thew exhaust, to mount aformentioned carbs on? Does anyone see any problems here? This is my first real post. So be nice :)

It should be possible but there will be a fair bit of fabrication to do with the manifold as the ports are very close.

You will find that some of bike carbs/ITBs can be separated.

I did separate my Yamaha R1 carbs and opened up to correct spacing for my cylinder head.

This one is BMW K100 ITBs made to fit Suzuki Swift Gti inlet flange which I got it made in 10mm Ali plate.

If you send me inlet manifold gasket, I will get it made to laser cut it for you.
I would suggest to buy inlet rubber mounts to go with your carbs.

You can see black rubbers 4 of them.

Atchi, I think there would be a good market if you could produce a small run of those!

Hi,

Yes, Matt will be my Guinea P**, I mean a test bed.
I will make either carbs or ITBs to go with Volvo engine but I haven't had a inlet manifold gasket to make a CAD data from.
If someone is willing to send me gasket, I will make an Ali flange to fit bike setup.
I think it will be about £40 for a flange posted.

Or I can make one trial unit for £150 or so(depends on crabs) to be able to bolt on.

Cheers

Hi bmiles,

If that is the case, you can send me your carbs with gasket.
So that I can work out what you will need to do.
If you are OK with that, send it to me. I won't be able to start until a new year as I'm in the middle of house extension.
I have to keep my better half happy so that I can start work on my projects again in the new year!

Cheers
