1.4 to f7p

Post by scamparoo » 13 Jan 2013 08:18 pm

Hi there, I am currently swapping my 1.4 for a f7p running twin 40s Dellorto's, and just have a few questions about it,

-what starter motor do I use? (my 1.4 won't engage)

-what fuel pump to use?

-what fuel regulator to use?

-what kind of power should I be expecting from this setup?

Cheers

The starter should look like this http://www.classicswede.co.uk/High_Torq ... 41753.aspx

Go for a electric fuel pump and you need a fuel pressure regulator suitable for the carbs.

What are you doing about ignition?

Hi daily,

The plug for the coil goes to the dizzy is the same so I can only guess it will run the same ignition as the 1.4???
And thanks for the fueling info, will look into this.

Oh and thanks for making my inlet manifold, can, then said to receive it.

It will run but you will not get the best power out of it. Long term changing to something like mega jolt would be the answer. The other option is to experiment with the other renix units and see which one has the best map. There was years ago a thread that had the graphs for teh differnt renix moduls. A good search of teh forum might bring it up.

People are saying on the forum that it won't really work using a Renix to run the ignition, there on about using a mappable system. So confused!!!!

It will work and has been done.

The down side of it you will not be getting the full advantage of the engine. What I would suggest you do is get it going with what you have and then look at investing is a kit like mega jolt. If/when you do go for that you may well have to fit a trigger wheel as the flywheel patern for the renix probably will not work with the after market system. Have a chat with the suppliers about before you buy anything.
