help!!! stuck and not sure what im doing
i have a volvo 340 1.4 vario 1986, and i am still having problems with the engine reving its nuts off its now doing uto 4000rpm at 30-35 and drink juice.
i have just noticed from the ing coil there are 3 plugs. one plug on the end with red, white and black wires are not connected to anything. the white wire is just hangimng there and the other two taped up ?? should these go somewhere.
and not sure what the white box on the boittom of the engine bay is too. there is a pipe from the vac pump leading to this if that means anything to someone.
sorry to be vague, but not worked on varios before and cant find a manual for this car.
any help would be great and to identify these items. thanks guys

the plug with the red/black/white wire is the Renix C-plug, this is for retarding the ignition if you have a catalyst converter. is not the cause for your engine doing 4000rpm
the white box is the declutch servo, it is operated in D and R if you press the button on top of the gear lever, it switches vacuum to the declutch piston (wich roughly acts as a clutchpedal on a manual car) this pulls the clutch a bit free so that you can change gears when you have the engine running above idle (when choke is applied)

this is what i found so far. the vacuum is hardly sucking at either A or B, less on B really.
i checked the connections on the block connector, found pin 6, shows off the scale. when the 3 switches are used the ohms drop to 0ohms, but when released off the scale again??
does this look like i have a bigger problem than first thought?? any ideas guys

RIGHT I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE MANUAL AGAIN, AND GOT A LITTLE HELP THIS TIME. THE DIODE IN THE EMV IS BROKEN IN 2 PARTS, THE LITTLE RUBBERS INSIDE HAVE SPLIT AND NO SUCKING ON THIS WHEN DOING ALL THE TESTS. GOING THROUGH THE CARS HISTORY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THIS REPLACED LAST YEAR, BUT LOOKS LIKE THEY TOOK IT APART, LOOKED AND THOUGHT, HHMMMMMMM, PUT IT BACK TO GETHER BEST AS WE CAN.
WHERE CAN I GET A REBUILD KIT FOR THIS AND CAN ANYINE TELL ME WHAT SIZE DIODE I NEED PLEASE. SORRY BUT COMP STUCK ON CAPS LOCK.

You can contact Macplaxton (he is in the UK) for the proper overhaul kit. It contains the diode and all the rubber bits inside.
No need to worry how to overhaul it, there is a comprehensive "Ikea-style" manual included.
If he is out of stock, you can contact as I also hold stock. Postage will be more expensive however as I am in Belgium.
