PART NUMBER NEEDED?

Does anyone know the part number for the small plastic "T-shaped" sleeve that slides over the metal pipe on top of the valve cover where you top-up the oil? It also connects to the smallish rubber pipe underneath the air-filter pan and has another pipe joining it from the side. Im not sure how important it is but mine has completely cracked off! Im hoping I will still be able to get the part once I've got the part number: Alternatively can anyone here supply me with one?

My car is a 1988 1.4 Volvo 340DL.

Yup, Mac has posted the part numbers before, direct from Renault is the place to go....

This is fantastic news, especially the discovery of the Born Built Beauties website; I wish I knew about it years ago! I've literally just got home from searching all my local scrap yards in Plymouth, Devon, UK (None of them hold parts for 340's anymore, annoyingly). I also went to my main Volvo dealer who were able to show me a picture on their database of the part I need plus its part number: T-Nipple 3277001. They can’t supply me with it either so thank god Renault can as my MOT retest is this Thursday. I guess this could be a factor in why my cars been running so crap lately as well, along with the perished hose that fits onto the servo pipe which was also picked up on my MOT last Thurs.

Interestingly, I know a very old farmer who has two "dead" 340's in his field which he lets me help myself to parts from in exchange for helping him mow his lawn and odd chores. When I checked both cars yesterday both of their air-filter pans were missing? When asked he had no idea whether they were in any of his barns and was adamant that he'd thrown them away; He apparently ran his car/cars with the air filter pan permanently removed as he reckons they ran better like that?!!

Right, OK so for the sake of saving the cost of half a tank of petrol people are cutting off the needles......sigh. I sometimes wonder why I post up on here.

@Macplaxton, sorry it is indeed 1600 RPM, that's what I get for posting from memory and not checking first.

@pettaw: Wrong thread possibly? :lol: ...but it does draw my attention to the fact the car is from 1988 and therefore should have the fuel shut-off relay.

I should have heeded your advice and not cut off the needle as my car is now running like an absolute pig, my revs are high when accelerating and as soon as I stop accelerating my car cuts out. Off to the scrappy tomorrow...

Aside from that, the other thing I've noticed since replacing the t-nipple between the valve cover and air-filter pan is that my car makes a whistling sound when I start to accelerate! Is this normal?
