Hif44 on standard f7p/r intake manifold?

Post by tattooer » 02 May 2013 06:44 pm

Hi guys, quick question, but first a bit of background info, I have an f7p on bike carbs, not enough power anymore, I have an f7r laying about, with a port and polished head rocking Kent 1601 cams, which I wish to strap an eaton m62 upon, but I want it to remain carburettor run (I'm not asking the pros/cons of this setup) but....

does anyone see why I'd have a problem with using a hif44 on the f7p intake manifold? My thoughts were it might be a bit too far away from the engine, and make hot/cold starting an issue?

Also, unrelated to me, why wouldn't a f3p (RSI) bolt up to the 1.4 running gear?

Different series block, the B14 in the Volvo is the older Renault pushrod lump. Might well bolt up to a 1.7 bell housing though? Never looked.

Any renault engine with an F in front of the code is F series so bolts to 1.7 running gear. the clio inlet is flat bottomed so you should get many problems with fuel pooling like on some blow through setups. Charged blow through carb setups normally work fairly well, its just harder to control charge temps. Looking forward to seeing this one.

Thanks Adam, I've been reliably informed the standard mani is good for 300bhp on boost, on injection... I'm just worried about the blow thru, my mechanic fabricated his own mani for hs hif44 on a zetec in his Orion.... And it's as close to the engine as possible and he is concerned its gonna be a pig... :(
