that means that it's stuck in forced kickdown.
what tests have you done?

every single test shown on the manual on this site.
new transisitor fitted... new diode to prevent blowing again.... found break in circuit and soldered in wire to reconnect it...
new vaccum kit fitted... all connections tested... I have donw the lot.
drove the car and was perfect after..... 3 rd time out today and drove fine for 10 mins.... then worse than I started... as stated.. 20mph at 4500rpm...
gone bad to normal... now worse than it started??

I would go back and check the last few things done to it. Then again, it come be something completely different.

transistor + diode belong to the overdrive section of the EMV, your problem is in the kickdown section.
with the ignition switched on, do you get 12V on the yellow/green wire of the EMV?
check the bit Checking the electrical section

Re: vario problems after every test
then take the EMV apart and check if the T shaped cups/seals are still intact
is the thinner vacuum hose connected to the A-side?

yes checked that just now. all ok inside..... back on car and droive fine for few mins then over revving again and nothing above 20mph.....
took control box off again and checked all the soldering and redone the transistoir. again car drove fine for minutes and then revs up crazy style!!
I am totally lost

side B of the vac pump is very hot if that makes a difference???
but internals are fine..... but when I tapped it with my hand to see if there was any sticking, the pump started making a hissing sound and clicked 2-3 times and then stopped again

Pump? Do you mean valve? Is the solenoid one side playing up?

sorry yes. valve.. t5he emv. not sure but since I done all the work on it, the B side is very hot and the other cold?? I am thinking I need a new one. cannot drive it like this as it will be dead in less than 5 mins.
I think it must be the valve that's at fault. but cant find another to compare and test

Should the B-side be on? If it is, then it should get some sort of warm when current is flowing through it. #
B-side hot, suggests that solenoid is energised. That is the kickdown side. So why is that? You haven't knocked the low-ratio hold switch have you? and it is wired correctly? and the warning light works?

warning light works. switched not pressed. all electrical test shows working and lights goes out when gas pedal pressed all to the floor
just found when I turn engine off... the B side pipe is hissing loud, when I pull the pipe off the valve it empties??
I think I have a new problem
