Basically Im thinking about doing the t5 2.3 turbo conversion into my 340 1.7 saloon, just want to know everything I can about the conversion. what parts I need ie box, diff/axle, prop? I want to do it on a budget of around 1500, if im living in dreamland please tell me and point me in the direction of an easier turbo engine conversion for the 340, or how much power can I get out of the 440 1.7 turbo lump??

The £1500 is dream world. There is ways to do it on a budget using running gear from a 360 but it will be breaking gearboxes for fun.

Hahaha im sold!! Now to find a cheap 440

my friend made a point today, why spend quite a bit of money making the 1.7 turbo to 200 bhp and also more unreliable, than with a t-5 there's already more than 200bhp and it will still be reliable and there's also the room for more power if I want it.

The money you will spend on the 1.7 will be more than offset by the fabrication and parts cost of fitting the T5

Also bear in mind 300BHP is about the limit on a T5 before spending big bucks on the internals.


Your real limit is the drive line so its more of a case of who much work and money are you willing to put in?

hmmm to be honest I really want to just have enough power to get it sideways easily and for as cheap as possible, I would like a turbo but im swaying to an f7r if I can find one :/ ITS SO HARD TO DECIDE

360 drive + mildly boosted B230FT? Virtually no fabrication, except the mods you need to get to a 360 drive+engine.
