Engine running issues - cut out up a hill - problems!!!!

Hi all, just having some engine running issues with my 360 GLT B200E engine

When I drive up a road in 3rd or 4th, the car is tending to max out at 200-2500 rpm, with no power. It's feels as thought it is surging. For example, the car will not go over 70KMH unless going down a hill.

Could this be cause by the MAF sensor? or a faulty fuel pump. or any other

The other day while going up a hill I had to drop back into 1st, the car spluttered and nearly stalled, tick over when to 600rpm, then revs picked up again and it got me home.

Anyone got any clues what's is causing this problems

I've got a spare afm or two if you need one. Have you run injector cleaner through? Maybe its just blocked or dirty injector's

Ignition breakdown will be fairly harsh, engine will feel really rough when its happening.

Sounds more like lack of fuel, I'd go for the AFM, but you might want to check fuel rail pressure (regulator and pump), and of course post measurement air leaks, breathers etc.

You could try rigging up an external switch for the cold start injector, that will give you more fuel (as an experiment).

Is this the pre-pump filter, apparently more of a moisture trap or resevoir than a filter, but I'm not entirely sure. If you fit a normal filter it will cause problems for the pump, especially at lower tank levels.

Yep, pre pump, it's a cheap paper filter and is really there to trap crap, but allows lots to fuel to flow.

I'm thinking of draining the tank and seeing what other crap comes from this area. Will update soon :360:
