Hey together,
does anybody know what the main differences are between the 14.2E and the 14.4E.
IS it possible to drive with unleaded fuel?
Best regards M.

Re: 14.2E for unleaded fuel
I don't think UL petrol is recommended for a B14.2E, but I just use it anyway.
I save my pennies in a jar and fix the cylinder head later if I need to.
(I've been putting in UL95 in a B14.0E for >16,000km)
However, I'd avoid that E10 petrol that is common your way. I've only bought about two tanks of it because I had to.

Re: 14.2E for unleaded fuel
I'd just add lead replacement additive. Isn't that expensive, and saves having to hunt around for a replacement head when you least need it ...
Better though, is to convert to B14.4E straight away, saving the additive but also being able to use 95 RON E5 (rather than 98 RON "Super Plus").
Cheers
Tom

Re: 14.2E for unleaded fuel
I just looked it up.
Sorry Richard but the use of UL in your B14.0E voids the overal warranty of your car .
For the B14.2E (81-83) one needs to advance the ignition with 2 degrees, no additive needed. 98 octane is advised.

I'm determined to get as many UL miles as I can on this one! (currently around 82k miles / 132k km )volvomania wrote:Sorry Richard but the use of UL in your B14.0E voids the overal warranty of your car
I refuse to believe EVERY B14.0E engine is made of cheese.
Are you sure it is advance? My gut instinct would be to retard it.volvomania wrote:For the B14.2E (81-83) one needs to advance the ignition with 2 degrees, no additive needed. 98 octane is advised.

ups, I have integrated the renix ignition from the damaged 14.4e. It runs, but I think in lower speed range it jingles.
Since yesterday I try the 100Octan fuel... We will see...
Cheers Matthias
