Rear gearbox bush assy. Collapsed? - I've got a FIX.

This piece, inserted into the gearbox bush hole, with the remnants of the original housing (Flange shaped piece) bolted on top of it makes a complete repair. the bush is the exact right size. It lines up to WITHIN 1mm of what the original/correct part would do.
You may weld the bush to the flange if you so wish, but my repair leaves the holding in of the bush to the bolted down flange, the bolt through the gearbox spider and nothing else.
The bush is then easily replaceable in future(without welding) - I refer to this repair' as the "Gearbox bush cassette upgrade", the repair can be easily reproduced. the part is also the same on the mk1/2/3/4/5/6 fiesta wishbone.
I had my video camera on for light when fitting the bush, i'll make a montage of the repair... it's a thing of beauty!!
Worst part is hammering the bits of old cassette from the "flange" part, to leave a smooth round hole with no jagged edges.

For 340,
~I've looked at the video, it's not so good as I thought, I'll take the bush off and put back, properly on video.
The gearbox is a1 held in now, If I cause the car to baulk on purpose the tyres sqeuak without any knocking from the box. Like a brand new car does!
I'll put what bits I've covered [up now].

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB7KQtb6 ... e=youtu.be video of repair in-situ.
and hopefully the pics of parts used:
This is the "flange" piece, soften it up with a hammer, get the rust off, and spiky bits - hey presto.
Like I said, you can weld it if you want but it's 100% for me.

Re: Rear gearbox bush assy. Collapsed? - I've got a FIX.
Nothin' but a lucky find, speedy. though it did cause my eyes to brighten and head to cock to one side when i found it.
Re: Rear gearbox bush assy. Collapsed? - I've got a FIX.
I thought loads of people were dying for a fix to this problem of no bushes left... jeez, I said you could weld it.... : if you "stitch" welded it, and quenched it inbetween welds the rubber wont burn... you know what, I'm, goona make a batch of em.
£12 each. £20 a pair. Any takers? I'll buy a welder and do it with no profit, just to stop volvo gearboxes hanging down and getting too much strain on their splines. Mine is leaking oil after its 3000 mile stint with shredded bush

Re: Rear gearbox bush assy. Collapsed? - I've got a FIX.
Its a wicked repair and I'll have a set - mind you I don't have any old ones to refurb right now. I have another guilty confession which is that I managed to get a new set off someone who was a Vovlov dealer about 7-8 years ago and they're secreted away somewhere safe!!

I could get new plates cut for pressing these bushes in. Looks like a good cheap option for repair.
