after one of the drive belts on my 340 dl cvt decided to snap i have finaly obtained replacement belts, i plan on changing them myself as i cant find anyone who will attempt it,
unfortunatly i dont have volvos special tool for seperating the pully halves and im going to have to tackle this job with the car on axle stands/ramps,

cvt drive belt change, advice needed :(
Re: cvt drive belt change, advice needed :(
Spike,
Without a proper tool I would NOT even attempt such a move.
Surely someone here knows of one to loan or rent for a day.
I would bring mine along....except I am 3,000 miles away.

How about you show him a picture of your homemade 5837 and give him some dimensions John? Just saying like
Re: cvt drive belt change, advice needed :(
This is what I manufactured myself for the DAF 66/Volvo 300 Vario since an original Type 3 spreader could not be found.
The basis was a rather large C-clamp (with a 12 inch spread) and I used Nylon blocks cut into a V pattern.
Unfortunately my inventory of these has been depleted and there are no plans to make more.

Well he did get the belts on three days ago . http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... 30#p180736thebear54 wrote:The basis was a rather large C-clamp (with a 12 inch spread)
However, for anyone bothering to search about this at a later date, it's that ^^^^^ and a reach of about 5 or 6". So all you bargain hunters get down those car boot sales and see if you can bag a jumbo G-clamp!
