Ok, so I noticed the heater was blowing cold, the temp was rising quickly but still under control of the fan(fan did turn off after 30 seconds). Water level was not in the expansion tank, took 2 litres of water to fully fill the expansion tank, took round block, level is normal. Heater still not very good, no obvious leaks.
No running issues. Ideas? -
I'm thinking of doing waterpump and thermostat. - Bog, if it's done it before, do you recognise these symptoms?

Airlock? Bleed it?
Re: Coolant loss, other symptoms
Hello, the heater was a bit feeble but it hasn't been flushed through for a long time. There was a slow coolant leak from the valve controlled by the heater cable which I replaced about 7 years ago. The water pump was replaced about the same time along with the radiator. Cheers for now, bogbasic.

Was a burst pipe!, I floored the gas with bonnet open - There she blows! trimmed, new jubilee clip.
The soft hose over the top of the 1.4 engine, what called, how much? probably find one on ebay anyway like...
Nice to be such an easily diagnosable problem, amazing how much easier it was with the (Freshly steam-cleaned) bonnet open too waterpump is strong,
no leaks from radiator, yet... I'll paint it up and maybe solder+rosin the ugly parts if there's chance.
