fueling issues

my glt has an issue,
it starts runs fine and drives but if you cut the ignition and try start it it bogs out and won't start like it's flooded. have to leave it for well over an hour before it will start again.
it turns fine but feels like there is no fuel getting to it.

the last time I started it I let it run/idle with no driving and 5 mins later it spluttered and died.

I've changed the plugs, fuel filter, leads , dizzy and rota arm and have a new pump on the way.

I'm stumped.

I'm thinking either a dodgy fuel pump, dry solder gone in relay or a blockage in the line somewhere?

I haven't ever replaced the prefilter and not sure where to get one, it looks very similar to one I had on my old mk 2 golf, would one of these do as a replacement ?

had anyone had similar?

Sounds just like what happened to mine, the fuel pump was buggered.

Not sure if the prefilter is a filter, there is no prepump and the fuel comes out the bottom of the tank under gravity. Restrictions can cause pump cavitation.
