Can't put 360 into reverse?

I have a 1984 360glt with manual transmission. I hardly ever drive it anymore and plan to sell it soon. I took it for a bit of a spin on the weekend, and somehow managed to snap the spring inside the gear stick- the thing that you lift to put it in reverse? I heard a snap. And now it doesn't spring back down, and no matter what I do, I can't put it in reverse.
We managed to push the car back far enough to turn around, so no troubles there, but will this be an easy fix? It's something I'd rather fix before I sell it.
Thanks!

I let my Father drive my old 360 and as he went to reverse onto the drive the spring snapped.
I just said you fix it, took him about ten mins so it's not a big job.

It's the little elastic thingy that has snapped that wraps around the reverse lifter, here's a picture:
Any ideas? I've tried super glue but it didn't stick. Can you get these things new somewhere?
I've currently got my 360 for sale, and one person interested so far, offering me a lot less than what I want for it, it's a bit of a drama to replace.

Contact Born Built Beauties, I know that they can get the plastic strip if your car has a chassisnumber higher than 831899.
Had a quick look at the books and that might also be useable for the earlier plastic version.
Changing it is easy, just tap out 1 pin at the bottom end of the chromed stick and the whole thing will come apart.

Thanks for your help, I've sent them an email. Do you know what the actual name of the part is? I was thinking of having a look on eBay for it, there seem to be a lot of accessories for these cars on there.

How exactly do you go about tasking the gear stick apart?
