What happen if you change a Renix with a different code
Just wondering what would happen if you put a different renix unit in a 360 GLT. The renix number is 415 on the Nos, that I have lying around, but the original one has a 411 code. Would it run, or damage anything....any ideas

415 is for the 1.7 engine. It should run but as to how well I don't know.

It also depends which engine, compression and fuel you are using. The haynes will give you the different advances at tickover. The rest of the map is pretty random, but old fashioned points had a pretty linear advance, so it can't be that far off.
A high advance will need higher octane, but might ping anyway. There is no knock sensor so listen out for pinging. To little advance will probably just use fuel, but I'm not sure.

Re: What happen if you change a Renix with a different code
The 1.7 engine has a special design combustion chamber, which allows ridiculously lean mixture and high spark advance at low loads. The ignition curve is definately off for any redblock. I strongly recommend to fit a correct renix unit.

According to Haynes
B14.4=6 deg BTDC
B172 = 6 deg BTDC
B19A = 15 deg BTDC
B200E = 12 deg BTDC (9.2:1 post 96)
B200K = 15 deg BTDC (10:1 to 87)
Seem the 2L is even more special and rediculous. I think you will just see a lack of power.

Re: What happen if you change a Renix with a different code
That is just at idle though Ride_On, not the surface plot? Given even the green books show a 2D map for most and the Renix has both RPM and vacuum feeds I think very few have found what the actual maps look like for all Renixs. The 1.7 head is far enough removed from the others that it's not worth the chance when the correct one exists.
Just fit the correct one.
Just fit the correct one.
