What would happen to the performance/engine/health of the car if I blocked of the following. Can anyone advise please

that's not EGR, its the Pulsair system.

it doesn't affect performance but (when working) you have cleaner exhaust gasses. it works by allowing a small amount of fresh air to the exhaust valve ports, it creates an afterburning effect
only reason you want to block/remove it is when the 4 pipes going to each cilinder are corroded through, then you get a small exhaust leak.

if you want to block the EGR (wich is allowing a small portion of hot exhaust air into the intake manifold) you take the pipe that is connected with 2 bolts on the centre of the intake manifold and block it off. it's even better to remove the whole system including valve, vacuum lines and the pipe that is connected to the exhaust manifold

Does removing the EGR cause any problems

Unlike Pulsair the EGR does affect performance, espescially if the system is not working as it should.

I'll have to look up the pictures, though it's pretty easy to identify. On the rear of the exhaust manifold there's a steel tube going around to the lh side of the engine, that's from the egr system. The valve is mounted to the crankcaseventilation box and another steel pipe goes fron there to the intake manifold. Then there's the vacuumhoses, 1 from the operating valve to a switch on the cil head, one from there to the intake manifold. Remove both of them and block the intake port and you're done
