+efi kit

Post by Logan360 » 19 Oct 2014 10:39 pm

hi guise.

I am trying to piece together an efi kit for a GLS. I've got the AMM ecu and injectors with manifold off, but do I need to include the renix, cps, and strip back the loom to follow the rest of the wiring? or are the looms the same, just with unused plugs in the case of the GLS?

Bosch LE system? the loom is very simple and the haynes manuals are pretty much spot on. the 3 looms ive had my hands on have all been identical. its also quite well self-contained so you shouldnt need to strip much back or have much unused stuff.

aside from the CPS, the renix only has 2 wires coming off it that join to the main relay and then into dash (one for rev counter and i can think of the top of my head what the other does)

at least thats what my experience with mk3 GLT's has told me

.... although re; carb to injection, mrborrie has said the following
mrborrie wrote:Regarding your electronics, swap over the complete engine compartment loom (yes also the one for the lights etc), DONT swap in just the injection loom. it looks all the same but like i stated in my project the fuelcutuff for the carb can give some trouble compaired to the injectionloom. Its fairly easy because all the wiring does slide into the fusebox

cheers. will pull the full engine bay loom out. what about the fuel pump wiring from dash to tank? is that all there or does it need to be removed too?

fuel pump wire comes from the relay to a mini fuse box in the inner wing (with fog light fuse) then onto the pump from there.
its only one wire.

ive recently shortened LE my loom (the AMM and relay sections have had at least a meter lopped off), here it is in its entirety on my conservatory table
Image
from the ecu plug going clockwise its; main relay (2 wires for renix above), AMM at the bottom, throttle butterfly switch, injector and CSI stuff, water temp stuff, earths and not a lot more ... only 13 wires to the ECU

this looks like childs play compared to LH2.4

the rest of the engine bay loom in my GLT is just for lights and horns as far as i can tell

this is UKDM stuff, downunder/NZ spec might be different..... EGR nonsense is fitted to most 200e's down your way iirc so who knows what else you might have

Haha, I just though the exact same thing. The wiring harness also weighs half as much as the lh loom.

Dont forget to look here.

Egr is all mechanical on the 360, just take it all off and seal off the leftover holes.

no get on my old girl which the harness is coming out from. but ironically enough it is going to 2.4 once I get the new motor. so I have the renix out, the cps, the injector harness and ecu. the wire that goes to the fuel pump, is it + or -? I would like to avoid removing the whole bay harness for sale as that has my headlight and fog light plugs etc. there is a plug that goes from harness into renix, is that rpm? there were also 2 plugs connected to the fuel pump relay, what are they for?

Wire to the fuel pump is 12v+. A plug into renix has three wires (not sure which is which, switched 12v+, rpm and another one), then there is the B plug, two wires to the cps (turn them around and you have 3 degrees advance), and a C plug which is not always used.
