Engine swap or sell?

Hey guys, I have a problem and I could use a bit of advice.
I recently bought a Volvo 340 1.4 DL and it has been a bit of hassle but overall its been a good, cheap runaround.
But I'm already over £1000 invested in it and now the clutch is almost gone (previous owner sold it with slipping clutch without telling me, should have test driven it! ) ohwell, so my question is, do I cut my loses and fix the clutch and sell her on, or, take her off the road and make a decent drift car out of her? The only problem with the drift car option is it is 100% original (as far as I'm aware) and it would seem a waste considering the shell is very clean.
But either way, I Sure there must be threads about this, but what would be a good engine swap for a beginner if I was to go down the route of drifting her? Not looking for major power but the 1.4 couldn't spin the wheels if it tried!
Anyone got any advice? If it makes any difference I'm in Cornwall and I know they're very rare to come by down here!
Thanks
