I've been having some discussions on the 360 turbo modifications needed for the oil squirter 940 engine. It comes with a bigger oil pump and the story is that the 360 oil pump will not drive the oil squirter sufficiently. It will be OK at tickover but the oil squirters are apparently on a pressure release valve.
I have always intended to keep the Volvo engineering but seems I need some internal mods to make it work well. I'm thinking of cutting and shutting the pick up as the 940 pump is 5mm taller.
Anyone confirm or deny?

Re: B230FT oil pressure
Same discussion on V3C at this moment. Squirters alone will be fine with the stock 300 pump, I have a little lower pressure but nothing serious. If there is still enough volume and pressure when a turbo and cooler is added I can't tell you yet.
Re: B230FT oil pressure
what's V3C? I've been having a discussion on Facebook, but the proposer didn't have any real evidence or observations other than the fact the pumps are different, but it is a starting point.
Can't imagine the oil cooler doing much its closed and the turbo is only a small bearing.
Could you post a few points of rpm vs pressure over the rpm range?

The car is in hibernation at the moment, I hope to get it up and running in a couple of weeks. If still needed then I can get some data!Ride_on wrote:what's V3C? Will be adding a oil cooler (and some fast spinning oil lubricated bits) in the next couple of months. If the 300 pump does not supply enough volume and pressure then I will switch to the bigger oil pump. That does need modifing to fit unfortunately. Someone on the V3C forum is planning on making a 5mm oilpan spacer to gain clearance. But cutting and welding the pickup tube might be a better solution.

Re: B230FT oil pressure
I know of a few cars (360) that are running the 360 pump with squirter turbo engine and no oil pressure issues
