headmount distributor to a blockmounted

Post by mrborrie » 10 Apr 2015 01:42 pm

Got a 360 here that i will be taking the engine from, as my racecar has popped its current b200 (i need that engine for my race rules) I have a 1989 740 N/A B230F engine here for a while and i'm thinking of putting that back in there. I was just wondering if i could keep the headmounted distributor on with the 360 igntion. And if not how do i swap out the blockmounted distribitor from a the old race car engine

I already knew that i would be swapping oil pump and sump if i wanted to go down this route, if its all too much work i will just part the car out. but if its doable i swap the b230F in and might sell it off keeping a non rusted 360 on the road (them feels)

it will be very tight against the heater box, itll probably touch so trimming the box may be necessary

if you do swap to block mounted youll also need the intermediate shaft to drive the dizzy, the 230f will/should only have a gear for the oil pump (knock the blank cap out to double check) whereas the 200e will have gears for both pump and dizzy

its a bit of a faf but im sure a spanner-handy fella like yourself will get it all swapped over in a couple hours
