Pair of 925s?

Volvo: 968425 (that might be 973537 now) < Volvo number I think is for a pair
Gates have it the alternator belts as: 6217MC (AVX10 x 925La)
Continental: AVX10X925
Dayco: 10A0915C

925 seems to be the right length, but I think I found one of the originals, its 966908 9.5x925. Vadis has the same kit code as you say, and classic swede selling these as a kit, but he's off on holidays.

Seems to be a mix of widths on the pullies. I had problems with the substitutes on the 940, it needs 11.9mm on the crank, PS, water pump and has the same crank pulley, but much less stressed on the 360 with 2 of them but I wonder if belt width makes a difference to gearing. The 9.5 belt sits flush on top of the water pulley but recessed in the alt and crank. So a 10mm one will have reduced contact area, still would probably be fine.

0.5mm in nominal width is called a bawhair where I come from. Not worth fretting over with V-belts. As long as the belt isn't sitting at the bottom of a pulley it'll be fine.

Main stealer can get you those belts if they don't already have them in. Or just pop on down the motor factors.

Indeed but I'm enjoying my OCD in my old age, the designer specified 9.5mm and that's what I must have! Still a few eBay sellers also seem to think it's the same offering the 10mm part number saying its 9.5mm

Anyway I used 10mm on the 940 for many years having assumed the Halfords spec was accurate and wondered why the belt squealed or why I got lumpy/vibrating steering. Tightening it up didn't work except maybe to bearing killing tension. Using the correct spec solved it.

I may well have to resort to the dealer, seems difficult to get 9.5mm.

The only reason the Halfords one squeal and was lumpy was that it was made from monkey's foreskins. It must be true...fat bloke down the pub told me.

Give the dealer a bell. Service items are usually sensibly priced and come in nice blue packaging :)

£8.50 + vat from the dealer, seems to be same price as eBay nonsense for 2. He couldn't confirm if it was the 2 belt kit. I hope Volvo have not be playing the downsizing marketing game.

For 10.20, I'd expect a pair. Just the other week a bought two Gates 615 length belts down at the local and they cost me 4 yoyos each (including 23% vat.)

I want photos of you measuring these belts with a mic! (Not very nears) :D

Was indeed a pair but the length is 918mm, also no blue box as you promised, nothings matching up, world is ending! Individual code is 973536. Shall take some photos of the visible difference in pully position.

Not even a cardboard sleeve or a bag with a sticker! I blame the Chinese! 340pw

Did you go to "The aptly-named" Motor Works* on Boucher Cres or somewhere else?

Pics please! 340pw

*Yes I know it's part of Agnews. Never dealt with them myself - only Taggarts Glasgow (Lookers), Köping Dublin (EP Mooney) and Lloyds Carlise.

I think the 918s are the correct designed part, but I found them so hard to get on with my less compatible alternator I ended up using the original 925s (which I found). I think the 918s would probably fit for the original alternator and give a nice middle adjustment, the 925s tend to be closer to the end of the adjustment but fine.

I'm not sure if the proper GLT alternator would have the problem or not.

Bascially Vida says 918, but my car had 925s so I think Volvo may have changed to 925 to assist fitting.

While on the subject, looking up old photos as my replacement belts have been squeeling since install, want to replace with correct parts. Only changed as they were on the verge of snapping. Seems the part number matches my original set, now to find some new ones

Hey Bog basic, when I got the car the pictured belts were in place. I didn't like the thought of them snapping so took one down to my local car shop and got as close a match as I could. Few problems, most likely wrong profile and they are not matched, as soon as I had them in place I knew it was not gonna be great, one is significantly tighter than the other, I wore the cost and just havnt got around to it, retensioning has helped but after a month or so I get my little start up squeal back :p have ordered a matched Volvo set from Dai so should be sweet soon
