I have had this odd issue with the Volvo 360 track car, when the engine is running its pretty difficult to change gears.
I have to be pretty violent to change gears, reverse usually comes along with brushing of the teeth.

I though this would be due to the clutch being on its end, but i have changed the disk but the problem is still there. I wish i could have replaced the PP and the bearing but apparently they are not being made and sold by Volvo or aftermarket ?!

I was lucky to find a NOS OEM volvo plate so thats on there now with a used PP and bearing. Any idea's?

Edit: I should mention that i had a real hard time getting the cable adjusted, its now moving a little bit on its own in neutral (you can stop the wheel turning with one finger with the car jacked up, not allot of force there) if i loosen the cable more its really impossible to change gear even with brute force. So i opted what i have now. a little slip but at least i can drive.

Obliviously there is something wrong. I changed the clutch on my 360 a few years ago and the old pressure-plate was knackered. A new one made the clutch 'feel' a lot better. Was the pressure plate and/or fly-wheel scored at all? Actually I remember that getting the gear lever mechanism all back together is a bit of a mare so I would double-check that its all gone back together right and tight!!

How do you go about checking the state of the pressure plate? I have parted out a few 360's so i could recheck those and see the state of them. The old pressure plate and clutch well.. i did not reuse them

Sorry man, its so long ago that I did all this and I think I meant diaphragm rather than pressure plate and looking at year 7 of my blog I see this picture which shows what I am talking about on the right...



Those springy fingers on my old diagphragm had very little spring in them - instead of being bent they were almost flat and very stiff! If they are flat rather than curved I guess they are less effective at disengaging the drive through the clutch when you press the pedal and that will give you difficulty in changing gear. So my guess is knackered diaphragm.

I could loosen the clutchcable and peek trough the hole in the clutchhousing to see the state of the diaphragm....

The pressure group seems to be under allot of pressure, I can see its bent in looks to be damaged... could it be I installed the old one I pulled that was broken last year and I forgot to toss it.....
