I need to get a new one of the longer ones shown below....
... any clues on part number or supplier, etc. I think all the ones on 'the bay' are the shorter type. Why do they differ so much.... is it b19 versus b200.... is it saloon versus hatchback.... is it different pattern part manufacturers just made their own systems and you have to buy the whole lot for all the bits to fit together???

Cat and no-cat is the difference for the center ones in the pic.
B19 and B200 have some other differences but I can not tell those from just looking at the pic.

Saloon is the same except for the tail pipe, angled for hatch, straight out for saloon.

Or add a decat pipe to the "cat" pipe you have. its wider bore so more power.
Fitting an exhaust to any car is a waste of power and economy anyway. I was amazed at how far away pedestrians want to be from a car with just a downpipe compared to one with a set of silencers. Its a road risk IMO to be quiet.
Decat the cat pipe. Cheapest option in my book.

Hello CBA and others above,
I never knew the gap was for a cat but I should have done and now I do. I thought they stopped making 360's before cats came along, at least in blighty, but I am probably wrong. A straight bit of extension pipe is looking like the way to go, man. I might ask the garage if they'll weld the old one in situ, since it just leaks at the welds, but they will probably say, 'no way'. If you liked the pun, note its endemic around here - they were farming cannabis at the sewage works ;-

My old '91 340 had a cat and a "Catalyser" badge on the boot, so yes, some were fitted with cats!

I managed to get a Klarius VO145Q which is the right (i.e. longer) pipe and they're still on ebay so I can keep my shorter spare one for another 10 years or so and decat it a bit later!

Well, to be absolutely clearius, the new Klarius exhaust section is almost right - just needed a bit of a bodge with the fitting....
.... now, I just need to trim that dodgy fixing plate a bit at the bottom and it might be good to go.

Awesome work - I get you now, thanks to wikipedia: Hades the god of the underworld - man, thats mytho-logical ;-0 .... but, anyhow, here's how the final masterpiece looks after removing the sharp edges and it doesn't thrum too much ;-0 so fingers crossed and the MOT man might not mind too much either...
.... shame they can't just make them bolt-holes the right distance apart - they should take a lesson from rabbits ;-0

Thanks for posting this, I might try and avoid Klarius parts if they can't be bothered to make them fit correctly!

I would think that all these parts are so obsolete now, all you can get now are just returned goods - or should that be bads ;-? Or maybe Klarius make (or made) their own laminated hanging-down bit?? The posh repair would have been to fabricate one of these, but couldn't be bothered, sorry!!

Well done on making that thing fit! I've used Bosal parts for quite a while, the fitting seemed to be OK on those. My DLS has a "Walker" exhaust - mountings OK on that too.
Cheers
Tom

how much clearance do you have with the exhaust tube in relation to the heatshield under the fuel pump?
it think that the exhaust might get too high when mounted like this
