Air Filter advice needed!

Post by Roge1 » 18 Nov 2015 08:09 pm

Hey all,

Just received a kn replacement air filter unit from Chris-m here on the forum, thanks again Chris, and wondered if anyone else had fitted one (to a 1.4 engine) and could advise what I'm supposed to do with the breather pipe that usually attaches to the base of the original round filter housing!?

Thanks in advance

A picture would help but it will work left loose, it may make a bit of a mess. If you can't arrange a inlet suction connection you could use a catch can, just extend the tube into a tin with a small opening. You will loose some ability of the engine to keep the oil in from leaky seals. Otherwise its probably up to you to arrange an inlet connection.

Ride_on,

Is there any issue if I simply block the loose pipe?

Don't block it, it releases excess crankcase pressure!

It can be left loose but little bits of oil will come out of it.

I would try and link it in to the air filter housing somehow or fit an oil catch can beware though as this can actually cause too much pressure and blow oil seals.
