Epic prop fail last night. Needs a new output shaft and prop.
I have an output shaft off my old engine, but I was wondering if it was possible to change the shafts without pulling the whole lot out?
So yeah, I need a prop. Also, I need to know why it has died, given I have not given it any abuse, or even attempted to skid it, I have literally just used it day to day, and its lasted less than 2 weeks. I dont want to be putting a new bloody prop on every 2 weeks.
This is very much continuing its title of the worst car I have ever bought.
Its broken again....

Many commiserations (or however you spell it) - you've just joined the club. I'm afraid I don't have a spare but I'm sure Dai has a plan for a replacement...

Re: Its broken again....
I dont need the parts, well I do need a prop, but that isnt what this post was for
James has answered my question on the fb page, so hopefully I will be able to swap the output shafts now.
I am just worried as I dont know why it has done this.. I dont want it to do it again..
I can only assume that it was not aligned well enough when the engine swap was done, but I have no idea how I would check that..

Are the engine mounts in good condition??

Re: Its broken again....
You should fit new engine mounts as the chances are the old ones have sagged which would missalign the prop.
You should also borrow Dai's laser alignment tool to make sure it is all spot on.

Re: Its broken again....
Yeah I can only assume its the engine mounts. I am using the later engine mounts on the earlier crossmember as the blocks have a different thread pitch and the earlier ones wouldnt fit. In hindsight that was probably stupid but it was my only option at the time.
I can only assume this means I need to buy a later crossmember, so I can use the engine mounts how they were on the donor.
Unless I can cut down the later mounts and chuck more thread on the rod so it sits flat. I dont know. All I know is I'm sick to death of this piece of crap..
