b230ft ecu

Post by akaunc » 12 Jun 2016 11:04 am

Hey.i've just found a b230ft engine for a low price.wondering to put it in my 360.thing is that it's the block only. It's from '89 760.as i know it has a LH 2.4 ecu am i right? i guess if i put an ecu from a non turbo engine it will not work as it should?

I thought all 760's have B230ET engines, if so it is motronic 1.0

If it is just block then it has no injection system, I think F refers to the hot wire airflow system. You can fit LH2.4 fuel system to virtually any car, It does not care so much what the engine is.

Hi,

a B230FT is the turbo version. of the B230F. It can't be converted to a B230F
for example or a B230ET. Both conversions will not work due to camshaft modifications
altered compression etc.

What you need for transferring the engine:
- the turbo (of course) with waste gate
- the ignition ECU (EZK 116)
- the LH 2.4 ECU
- the LMM (air mass)
- lambda probe and
- the whiring harness for the engine to connect
the temp.-sensor the knock-sensor, the lambda-probe
and the waste gate pressure sensor etc.

So I would suggest to get a complete car for spare parts, to transfer part for part...
I you have only the block, you will not get things done...

Ralf

Why should the fuel ECU care about the camshaft or compression?

Surely it just measures airflow and injects equivalent fuel, except in idle when its measuring O2 and cycling the mixture.

Hi,

there have been several experiments exchanging the ECU between B230FT to B230F(B) models in Germany
(www.alter-schwede.de). And the results where inadequate or no idling and bad acceleration.
In theory you are correct, measuring the input airflow etc. should be sufficient, but in practise the ECU's
seem to be very different in detail.

Camshaft will not stop it running, people always swap A V VX and VX3 cams in with no change to the ecu at all.

An FB engine is a N/A 2.3 with a 531 head with 136hp. I don't know much about LH2.4 but I'm pretty sure there is a N/A ecu and ezk and a turbo ecu and ezk o if it doesn't run they probably used the wrong ecu/ezk so the fuelling would be way off.

Yeah probably, the ECU needs to match the air measurement and injectors. The size is related to the max BHP, but they must be matched to an equation in the computer software.
