I am at present cleaning up a transaxle from a 360 GLT I picked up recently. Before I start throwing too much solvent etc about I am curious to know what the little rectangle shaped orifice is on the side of the overdrive housing.
See picture below.

Re: Transaxle
Hello sir, guessing its an air vent for the torque tube casing so you are right to be cautious. A peg might help!

1991 340 1.7 GL, 64k, 5 door, petrol blue (Deep Blue).
1988 360 2.0 GLE, 140k, 5 door, ocean blue metallic (Blue Bess).
1989 340 1.7 GL, 108k, 3 door (Red Ness).

Re: Transaxle
Doesn't happen to be a blue one with carpet stuck on the dash?
Re: Transaxle
Sorry sir, I can now see its nothing to do with the torque tube (phones!!). No idea in that case.

Re: Transaxle
Thanks to those who have take the time to reply. It appears I will need to investigate this and see what it is about.
That said there is the need for some gaskets to reassemble the transaxle.
I see that they are still available but note there is some duplication.
For example the transmission to clutch housing gasket. There are two listed . Both appear the same but have different prices.
I see there is a link to enable the insertion of the 17 digit model number. I do not have that number so can anyone explain the differences in these two gaskets and the others where there is duplication like the side cover and the other clutch housing gasket. I trust this make sense.
Cheers, Fred
